QGOSM Chairman: National Day to Remain a Shining Light in the Nation's March

Doha - The Chairman of Qatar General Organization for Standardization and Metrology (QGOSM) Engineer Mohamed bin Saud Al Musallam affirmed that the National Day, which falls on Dec. 18 of each year, will remain a milestone and a shining light in the march of the State of Qatar, and that the celebration of this occasion reflects the solidarity of the people and their rallying around their wise leadership.

 
In an exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Musallam pointed out that the QGOSM, as the Qatari people participate in celebrating this occasion which is very important to all (citizens and residents), renews the pledge and loyalty to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as the leader of our renaissance and our march, and affirms to redouble efforts to raise our country, its pride and the dignity of its people.
 
 
He added that the State of Qatar was able, despite the unjust blockade and the Coronavirus pandemic, to realize many major development achievements in various fields, which are the result of decades of hard work in light of a clear vision, through which the State of Qatar always seeks to be a model at the regional and global levels.
 
On behalf of himself and on behalf of all of the organization's members, Al Musallam raised the highest verses of loyalty and blessings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and to the government and the Qatari people on the occasion of the State's National Day, which coincides with the anniversary of the founding of the State of Qatar by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
 
Al Musallam called upon the Lord to repeat this glorious occasion to His Highness with good health, happiness and success, and to our dear country with the blessing of security, stability, pride, prestige, progress and prosperity.
 
Regarding QGOSM efforts during this year, Engineer Mohamed bin Saud Al Musallam explained that the organization, as it renews its determination to support the process of development and the comprehensive renaissance, has made many achievements, including in the field of specifications and standards, as the organization raised (11) special specifications to limit the spread of the virus (Covid-19) In cooperation with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), in accordance with the requirements of the market and the national factories, in addition to raising approximately (100) standard specifications for accreditation in the fields of engineering, chemistry, oil and gas, construction and building materials, as well as the participation of the organization in approving (1162) standards and ( 116) Technical regulations of the GCC Standardization Organization.
 
He added that in the field of quality and conformity, the Qatar General Organization for Standardization and Metrology launched the Qatari Quality Mark to enhance the competitiveness of products in the local, regional and global markets, and to support the national product, sustainable development plans and consumer protection, as the organization provides factories with approved Qatari standard specifications so that the products are always of high quality. 10793 from the consignments of restricted materials were received by the various outlets of the country, which would support national projects, facilitate release procedures and accept conformity certificates issued by internationally recognized bodies, as well as cooperate with ministries and relevant authorities in various fields, including matching specifications (roads, electrical appliances, tires, building, construction materials, and auto parts).
 
Al Musallam indicated that the central laboratories in the organization have examined more than 629 samples of building materials and 3418 of weights, weights and meters, and examined and stamped about 2.3 tons of gold and silver artifacts to verify the conformity of these products with the approved specifications.
 
He stated that in the field of international cooperation, QGOSM signed a joint declaration of intent with the Turkish Standards Institution for cooperation in establishing a laboratory to facilitate trade between the two countries, and a draft memorandum of understanding was prepared with the Argentine Standardization Body (IRAM), and the organization also participated online in many regional and international meetings and events.
 
Al Musallam added that the authority has participated in the membership of the technical committee emanating from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which prepares international standards in the field of photovoltaic systems, and signing of the licensing agreement for the use of IEC products.
