Al Wakrah defeated Al Sailiya 1-0 in Week 18 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Qatar SC Stadium on Sunday.

Abdulrahman Mohammed scored the all-important goal in the 70th minute.

Al Wakrah thus completed their domination of Al Sailiya in this season's league championship as they had won their first-leg match by a 3-1 margin.

Al Wakrah raised their points to 18 with their fifth victory, while Al Sailiya remained on 23 points after suffering their seventh loss.

Al Wakrah are having a good run as they had registered a creditable goalless draw with higher-ranked Qatar SC in Week 17.

Both sides had chances to score in the first half, but were unsuccessful.

Al Sailiya's Abdulqadir Ilyas was thwarted by goalkeeper Saoud Al Khater and team-mate Mohanad Ali's bid was foiled by Al Wakrah's Ahmed Moein.

Attempts continued in the second half and Al Wakrah went about strongly in search of a goal. Abdulrahman Mohammed's shot was wide of the target and Khaled Munir sent his shot over the crossbar.

The winning goal came when Mohamed Benyettou, evading the goalkeeper, passed the ball to Abdulrahman Mohammed and the latter's shot went in off the foot of Al Sailiya's Nadir Belhadj.

After the goal, both teams continued to score -Al Wakrah to consolidate their position and Al Sailiya to at least register a draw and split points.

Benyettou and Al Sailiya's Meshaal Al Shammari mainly had the opportunities to score.
