QSC-backed hackathon for sports innovations begins

The Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), partnered with several organizations, to kick start the competition activities on hackathons for sports innovations, on the occasion of Qatar Sports Day. 

A Hackathon is an event, where people, with like interests and skills, meet and exchange experiences to solve a problem. This competition is intended at reinforcing innovative ideas that contribute to supporting innovators. 

 

 

Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club, Engineer Rashid Al Rahimi said that the youths received the competition heartily. According to him, 20 projects has been registered, which will be presented to a technical committee of the challenge to evaluate them. 

He stressed the fact that QSC intended to provide a platform that welcomed innovative ideas and hackathon competition in other fields, in support of young people to generate creative scientific ideas. In turn, the club will be supporting the conceptualization of these ideas and their owners with the club’s modern technical laboratories. 

QSC has listed several conditions and requirements to participate in the competition. Some of these conditions include having at least three team members, including one Qatari member. All the participants are required to abide by the standards of controls and procedures. The teams participating in the competition will present innovative ideas and solutions related to a sports field of their choice. 

The competition will take place in three phases:

First – registration of the idea

Second – qualified teams would compete to develop the project in 48 hours – this will take place in March and will be hosted virtually

Third – implementing the winning and qualified projects

In the third and final phase, the winners will implement their projects in QSC’s laboratories. The club will provide the necessary funding and technical support.
