Second Round of Soil Quality Monitoring in Qatar for 2020 Launched

His week, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department, has launched the second executive round of field survey and soil quality monitoring in Qatar for 2020. This round will last until next month, in continuation to the first round which was carried out at the beginning of this year.

Engineer Hassan Al-Qassimi, Director of the MME' Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department, stated that the second round of the Soil Monitoring Program in Qatar is part of the Department's efforts directed at developing and implementing plans for environmental monitoring programs for air, water, and soil. The soil monitoring program is also included within several environmental programs that are prepared and carried out by the Department. Then, periodic reports that include an assessment of the state of environmental soil quality in the State are developed and submitted to the MME. 

He continued explaining that this program aims at protecting and sustaining Qatari environment in addition to monitoring any environmental pollution. He pointed out that the Department is always developing its tools, mechanisms, and programs as part of the operational management plans included in the Ministry's sustainable strategy. He also referred to the several initiatives and rounds adopted by the Monitoring and Environmental Laboratory Department for the purpose of achieving the objectives of Qatar National Development Strategy 2022. 

 

It should be mentioned that these efforts exerted to protect and sustain Qatari environment and resources are carried out in accordance with the approved strategies that are within the framework of caring for the environment in Qatar, as clearly established in the fourth pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.
