As the general secondary and adult education examinations continue for the second consecutive week until June 13th, a number of parties to the educational process stressed that strict precautionary measures have been taken in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) to secure a safe environment for students.

Mr. Yousef Al-Abdullah, the principal of Al-Wakra Secondary School, stated that 256 students were distributed to 33 test committees, in addition to one special committee, monitored by 75 invigilators.

He added that “pre-exams waiting areas were allocated for students in the same distribution mechanism applicable at the test committees to ensure optimal social distancing among students.”

The Al-Wakra school principal noted that MOEHE provided a fleet of school buses, each to carry only 8 students, in addition to an isolation room allocated for emergency cases.

Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al-Abdullah, an administrative vice-principal said: “Text messages were sent to all students to inform them of their exact seats within the school, so that they could proceed directly to the examination committee after they access the school. Ahead of this, all students are required to undergo temperature checks and will have to wear face masks and gloves.”

Commenting on the precautionary measures, student Ali Rami Ali Al-Zoubi said: “We received text messages featuring instructions to follow during the exams, something that casted away our concerns about attending school to sit for exams.”

“We hope that we will achieve the highest levels of excellence and overcome all the challenges we faced as students during these exceptional circumstances,” Al-Zoubi added.
