Shawwal to begin on May 13
According to accurate astronomical calculations by Qatar Calendar House (QCH), the first of Hijric month "Shawwal 1442 H" and Eid Alfitr will be on Thursday, May 13, 2021, while the Holy "Ramadan 1442H" will be ending on Wednesday, May 12.

The official decision of the start of the Hijric month "Shawwal" remains within the competence of the Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) in Qatar.

Executive director of Sheikh Abdullah Al Ansari Complex, Engineer Faisal Mohammed Al Ansari said that the new crescent of Shawwal 1442 H will be born on Tuesday, May 11, at 10:00 Pm Doha local time (7:00 Pm GMT). Moreover, it's impossible to see or observe the Shawwal crescent on Tuesday evening with the naked eye or astronomical instrumentations in the skies of Qatar and all countries of the Arab and Islamic region, because the new crescent of Shawwal this year will be born after sunset of investigation day (Tuesday).

For more information, the beginnings and ends of the Hijri months depend on the movement of the Moon in its orbit around the Earth, while the beginnings and ends of the Gregorian months depend on the movement of the Earth in its orbit around the sun.
