Sheikha Mayassa Calls on Qatar People to Take Part in 'Earth Hour' Tonight

  • 4 years   ago

All Qatar citizens and expats are encouraged by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to pledge their support in marking "Earth Hour" tonight, starting 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

The Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM) urged the whole community to renew their commitment by switching off their lights for this annual environmental campaign inititated by the Earth Hour Organization and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

H.E. Sheikha Mayassa said on Twitter:

"Join us tomorrow from 8.30pm to 9.30pm to celebrate the #EarthHour and the hope of building a better future for the earth by being responsible citizens, turn off the lights and light the candles instead as a message from Qatar to the world to protect our planet. #EarthHourQatar."

Many of those in government and private sectors have already expressed solidarity for the ecological drive. They are joining the bandwagon in turning off non-essential lights for a more sustainable planet to live in.

An hour of darkness during the coronavirus crisis, will shed light on the advocacy of the Earth Hour movement to raise global awareness on climate change. This hour marks tonight at exactly 8:30 pm.

So after reading this, in a few minutes, unplug and join the lights-out movement tonight in Qatar! ๐Ÿ™‚๐ŸŒ
