The Shura Council participated in a global webinar organised by Women Political Leaders (WPL) on Thursday. The topic of the webinar was ‘Female leaders shaping the world of the future: Building a new normal’.

Discussions during the event focused on the unprecedented opportunities offered by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to reform biased structures, legislations and standards that shape societies’ perceptions of women and women’s access to equal opportunities.

Shura Council Member HE Reem bint Mohammed Al Mansoori represented the Council in the webinar. The WPL had earlier welcomed Speaker of the Shura Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud’s nomination of Mansoori to be the WPL Ambassador in Qatar.

The WPL, a global network of female politicians, aims to increase both the number and the influence of women in political leadership positions. WPL members are women in political office, such as ministers, members of parliament, mayors and other senior officials.

The WPL strives to demonstrate the impact of more women in political leadership and to build new communities of knowledge for women political leaders everywhere. (QNA)
