Shura Council takes part in ASG-IUP virtual meeting

Shura Council participated in exceptional virtual meeting of The Association of Secretaries General (ASG) of Parliaments on role of parliaments and their organization in time of pandemic in parallel with the convening of the 142nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The meeting, which concluded its work today, was devoted to exchanging experiences and good practices about parliaments' work in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, their role in combating the epidemic, and the health and preventive measures taken by each legislative council to regulate parliamentary work with the continued spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Shura Council was represented in this meeting by HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayarin, who praised the wise directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to the officials to start implementing a package of decisions and precautionary measures and to establish a supreme emergency committee to combat the spread of the pandemic.
 
His Excellency reviewed the legislative efforts made by the Shura Council in the State of Qatar, and the structural and organizational measures it took to adapt to the restrictions of social distancing and the medical and preventive precautions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The general secretaries of the parliaments of the various member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union presented their country's experiences to enrich discussion and exchange experiences. (QNA)
