Sports Ministry to open nomination for appreciative and incentive state awards from June 1

The Ministry of Culture and Sports yesterday announced that nominations will open for the sixth edition of the Appreciative and Incentive State Awards in science, arts and literature starting June 1, until August 31.
The Appreciative State Award is granted to Qatari scientists and innovators every two years, in recognition of their overall scientific and creative endeavours. Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, or his representative, grants the Award which values QR500,000, a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation. The Award cannot be shared or given to the same person more than once.
The committee concerned with the award indicated that the fields available this year are: Islamic studies; social, economic and political sciences; pure and applied sciences; poetry, story, novel and theater; literary, critical, linguistic studies and translation; plastic, theatrical and musical arts; and other arts fields.
Among the conditions for nomination, the candidate must be a Qatari national of good reputation and alive unless he died after his nomination.
