State of Qatar and South Africa to sign 26 agreements in 2021

The Ambassador of Qatar to South Africa H E Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari said that the State of Qatar and South Africa will be signing 26 significant agreements this year to boost the relations between the two friendly countries. 
Speaking to Qatar Radio recently, the ambassador said: “There are about 26 agreements and areas of cooperation between the two countries that will be signed during the fifth round of political consultations.”
These vital agreements include an understanding between the South Africa Chamber, the Qatari Businessmen Association, and the Qatar Chamber, on establishing a joint businessmen council to develop trade exchange between Qatar and South Africa and overcome import and export obstacles and others, the ambassador continued.
He also gave insights on the statistics over the last five years put trade volume between the two countries at $2bn. For cooperation between the South Africa and Qatar in various industries, the Ambassador stressed that 6,500 South Africans living in Qatar contribute to Qatar National Vision 2030 and its economic enhancement.
Dr Al Ansari said that, “there are similar attitudes between Qatar and South Africa supporting Arab rights and solving conflicts in the African continent by peaceful means away from violence. There is preparation for the fifth bilateral consultation this year at the level of foreign ministers between the two countries to discuss many important economic issues. Several important economic issues will soon be discussed between the two countries in terms of economic diversification.”
 
“We have similar policies concerning the climate. We have signed agreements regarding the prevention of double taxation, investment promotion, and technical and commercial cooperation,” he added.
Recently, the Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar, H E Faizel Moosa said that the trade between the two countries went up by 150 percent between 2019 and 2020.
The South African envoy said there are also plans to implement negotiation with Qatar Airways to raise its cargo aircraft management in order to facilitate more supplies.
