SundanceTV shorts competition open for MENA residents invokes huge interest

SundanceTV Shorts Competition,
This year’s winning entrant and three runners-up will have their films broadcast on SundanceTV later in the year.
 
SundanceTV had recently announced its first-ever Shorts competition in the Middle East and North Africa region in partnership with Doha Film Institute following last year’s successful South Africa edition. 
 
beIN is partnering with SundanceTV for the first SundanceTV Shorts Competition in the region.
 
 
SundanceTV Shorts competition is open for all who have a story to share, irrespective of whether the short film has been produced with sophisticated equipment or with a mobile phone. 
 
Participants - either producer or director must provide proof of residence in the MENA. 
 
Films should be no longer than 15 minutes and must be in English. In case English is not the spoken language then they must be submitted with English subtitles. 
 
This year’s winning entrant and three runners-up will have their films broadcast on SundanceTV later in the year. Additional competition prizes will also be announced shortly.
 
A panel of prominent jurors have  been appointed to support up-and-coming talent, whilst celebrating creativity and uniqueness. The competition is open to entrants from a number of MENA countries, providing a unique platform that showcases emerging filmmakers and original storytellers.
 
It’s the ideal platform for participants to exhibit their passion for filmmaking, opening up a world of opportunity with recognised brands such as SundanceTV and beIN.
 
Entries must also meet SundanceTV’s official rules and technical requirements available on the website.
 

Competition Criteria:

 
  • The contest is only open to individuals who have directed or produced a film (not companies)
  • Films should be no longer than 15 minutes and must be delivered with English subtitles if English is not the spoken language.
  • All genres welcome including, but not limited to, narrative, documentary, animation, etc.
  • Entries must meet SundanceTV’s official rules and technical requirements.
 

Important dates

  • 4 August:
    Competition launch and submissions are open.
     
  • 18 October:
    Deadline of the competition, last day to submit your entries.
     
  • November:
    Announcement of the winner and runner-ups winner movie broadcasted on AMC channels exclusive to beIN subscribers.
