The Qatar National Day (QND) 2020 celebrations are in the air. And with the Emiri Diwan declaring today as  holiday in lieu of the National Day that falls tomorrow, the excitement is all the more.
 
Of course, please follow all pandemic preventive measures as laid down by the authorities in case you are going out door and don’t forget to carry your woolies as it has started to get chilly and windy.

Top places to celebrate Qatar National Day 2020

1. QND Parade

 
Every year, one of the most popular places to visit in the Doha Corniche in the morning at 9 am where the annual spectular QND parade is held and the entire atmosphere is fully charged watching the procession with pride and patriotism.
 
The parade is closed to public due to COVID-19 precautionary measures with MOI, Emiri Guards, Lekhwiya, Civil Defense, Air force, Navy participating and this year’s highlight will be the Covid-19 front line workers who will be an important part of the parade. The airshow as part of QND parade can be seen in different part of Doha. 
 
However, the QND Organizing Committee for celebrations has announced that attendance for this year’s National Parade’ will be only by special invitations and will only include families of the health sector and participating entities.
 
But sitting in the comfort of your homes with family and friends you can watch  the entire parade proceedings live on AlKass TV, so don't worry about it! 
 

2. Fireworks show

 
Watch colourful music, lights and giant fireworks off the Corniche at 8.30pm. Make sure to get a good spot and maintain social distance from each other and keep your mask on!
 

3. Finals of Amiri Cup 2020

 
On December 18, Mall of Qatar (MoQ) is collaborating with the Supreme Committee for Legacy and Delivery to support the final match of the Amir Cup 2020 that will take place at Al Rayyan Stadium. 
 
MoQ will display the match live on the Oasis screens. Fans can walk towards the stadium with an amazing football-themed roaming parade, street artists, and entertainers, creating festive vibes for all.
 

4. Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani museum

5. Doha Festival City

 
Qatar National Day festivities at Doha Festival City (DFC) will run until 18, between 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm with a range of family-friendly activities.
 
Messages of gratitude will be placed throughout the Mall, while shoppers will get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique festivities and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere of the Mall.
 
A giant declaration of love for Qatar will be displayed at the Atrium Node on the ground floor through a 3D ‘I Love Qatar’ interactive display, available for guests to take pictures whilst enjoying the art piece and relishing in memorable moments.
 
Visitors to the Mall are also invited to share their appreciation for Qatar by placing messages on the ‘Message Wall’, installed at the Market Corridor on the ground floor.
 
DFC invites Qatar residents to share their congratulations messages and wishes on the Mall’s website via the QR code. These messages will be printed and posted on the Message Wall. Submissions are open until December 17.
 
An augmented reality ‘Selfie Mirror’ will be placed at the Centre Court on the first floor on December 14, 15, and 16. The installation is composed of a photo booth with a sensor placed on top of the screen – guests who would like to take pictures will be invited to stand in front of the booth that will automatically snap their photos, with no touching involved.
 
Visitors will have the chance to don traditional Qatari attire for their photos and change the background virtually by waving with their hands from afar.
 

National Cruise Company offers unique opportunity to celebrate QND fireworks on boat

 
The National Cruise Company (NCC) is offering the public a unique opportunity to watch the National Day of Qatar fireworks from aboard a boat.
 
NCC - the boat agency organization has invited one and all on its social media accounts to witness the firework from the nearest point from where only a limited people can reach.
 
The breathtaking view of colored lights blinking on and off as the boat races across the waves with their reflections dancing across exquisite glass globes are a truly sight to behold.
 
So gather your family and friends and let’s celebrate the most important day in the year Qatar National Day

Al Khor Park

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has reiterated that park entry charges are related to the zoo at Al Khor Park only and no other public park currently has any entry fee. "There are more than 90 public parks in the State where entry is free for all," the MME tweeted recently.
 
The entry fee at Al Khor Park is set at QR15 for adults and QR10 for children up to the age of 10 years and persons with special needs. 
 
The fee for special events and functions is QR50, and the charge for feeding animals is also QR50, according to a chart issued by the MME on social media. The train ride at the park costs QR5 per person, while it is free for persons with special needs.

The event will go on until January 3, 2021 from 9am to 7pm  - Saturday to Wednesday, Thursday from 9am to 9pm; and from 1.30pm to 7pm on Friday.

Grab local produce at the winter vegetable markets spread across the country located in Al Sheehaniyah, Al Mazrouha, Al Wakra, Al Khor-Al Zakhira and Al Shamal from October 29. The markets will be open between 7am and 4pm from Thursday to Saturday.

Eleven talented Arab artists have displayed a whole artistic range of artworks at “Directions”, a virtual exhibition launched recently by the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in co-operation with Dar Hessa. 
 
The exhibition features works by Hanadi Al Darwish (Qatar), Samir Ben Gouia (Tunisia), Amna Al Nasiri (Yemen), Mohammed Al Ameri (Jordan), Moosa Omar (Oman), Raouf Rifai (Lebanon), Rashid Diab (Sudan), Thuraya Al Baqsami (Kuwait), Omar Alshahabi (Iraq), Bashar Alhroub (Palestine) and Abdellah El Haitout (Morocco).

THE CAMPING SEASON IS ON

Registration for the winter camping season started on 11 October in Qatar through the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. 
 
Camps can be held in Al Shamal, Al Ghashamiyah, Sealine, Ras Matbakh, Arida, Zekreet, Al Naqian, Al Kharra, Ashiraj and Umm Al Maa. One can camp in these areas
 
in three phases, with each stage covering different district.
 
Phase 2 started on October 14, with registration opening for Al-Reem Reserve, Al-Marwah, Al-Mazroa, Umm Al-Aafa'i, Al-Hashem, Al-Zubarah, Al-Udeid, Al Khuraij South, Abu Samra and Abu Zahlof. 
 
Finally, from October 18 registering was allowed  for campsites in Rawdat Rashid, Rawdat Aisha, Al Khor, Al Waab, Imgaitna, Al Ghariya, Al Mufair, Ras Al Nouf, Al Otouryah, Al Sane'ah and Al Rees West, and one can start camping from October 20.

When venturing out, please follow all precautionary pandemic measures set down the MoPH and strictly adhere to those rules and regulations for your own safety and of those around you.
