Traffic Department conducts safety awareness activities for motorists

The Media and Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic recently conducted various traffic awareness activities as part of its annual plan to raise the awareness of good traffic culture among motorists. The first week of the activity included awareness lectures for communities, traffic competitions on the Department’s social media accounts, developing safety for traffic among young people, and religious lectures.
 
The General Directorate of Traffic started its Ramadan programme by giving a lecture on traffic awareness for the Indian community. The main aim of the lecture was on the legal issues for pedestrians. The attendees were given insights to the dangers of randomly crossing the road and the instructions to be followed in order to avoid run-over accidents. 
 
 
The lecture focused on pedestrian traffic violations, its types, and consequences. It emphasised on the need to respect the traffic law and avoid inappropriate traffic behaviours that resulted in various traffic accidents. The lecture also noted on the most common violations seen during the holy month of Ramadan and safe driving instructions before Iftar and Suhoor. The Department said that its Ramadan awareness plan for the second week of Ramadan includes special awareness lectures for delivery drivers, including activities that is focused in the safety of the road awareness. It also includes meeting with a member of the Central Municipal Council to find out the traffic situation across some specific areas in joint efforts taken with the Hamad Trauma Center.
 
The Traffic Department recently seized nearly 350 vehicles for committing various traffic violations in the country. The most witnessed violations included drifting, reckless driving, speed limit violations, car racing, tinting violation, and creating loud noises. The General Directorate of Traffic stated that it will not tolerate the perpetrators of these violations as their choices makes other road users in danger as well.
