The President of the European Football Associations (UEFA) Aleksander Ceferin, praised Qatar's preparations to organize the 2022 FIFA World Cup, on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to attend the final of HH the Amir's Football Cup, which will be held tomorrow at Al Rayyan Stadium.

During a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Hotel, in the presence of local media, Ceferin expressed his admiration and astonishment at the development he had observed at the level of facilities in Doha, and the intense preparations for hosting the World Cup in two years.

He said that Qatar will present an ideal edition of the World Cup and he is looking forward to attend this global event.

Regarding Al Rayyan stadium, the President of the UEFA said that he will visit it tomorrow while attending the final of HH the Amir Cup, considering that the best way to discover this facility is to watch tomorrow's match.

On the participation of the Qatari team in the European qualifiers for the World Cup, Ceferin stressed that it is a great idea, as it was discussed in the European Union and UEFA reacted positively to the idea, and its Executive Committee supported this participation, adding that it is a good opportunity for the Qatari team to compete with the best European teams, especially as it will compete with the teams of a difficult group.

Commenting on the attempt to introduce politics into sport, the President of UEFA considered that football fans are a reflection of societies, adding that he is aware that 99 percent of the fans are good and not fanatical, but there is a small percentage who are trying to impose their ideologies and we must educate children on combating racism and discrimination, whether on the basis of gender, religion or cultures.

Regarding the losses for sport in Europe due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Ceferin said that everyone should wait until the pandemic ends and the losses are estimated in billions, hoping that next year is not going to be as bad as 2020.
