UN Praise for Qatar's Support to Health Sector in Yemen

Al-Raya newspaper highlighted in its editorial Wednesday Qatar Fund for Development's (QFFD) signing of an agreement with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to provide comprehensive health services for vulnerable people in Yemen.
 
The paper said that this affirms the Qatari pioneering role in providing relief to the brothers in Yemen and supporting the health sector which is the most affected by Covid-19 crisis.
 
The project aims to improve the health of vulnerable people in Yemen by providing comprehensive primary and secondary health care services in health facilities across three governorates, and will work to improve access to a high quality integrated minimum services Package of Health Care (MSP) in 10 health centers and district hospitals, in addition to strengthening access to advanced health care services, the newspaper said.
 
This was praised by the United Nations Population Fund in Yemen, which affirmed that it greatly appreciates the generous contribution from the State of Qatar towards the Fund's efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of Yemenis, especially women and girls, Al-Raya added.
 
The paper stressed that the State of Qatar, its government and people have not and will not hesitate to fulfill its humanitarian and moral duty to provide various types of support and humanitarian aid, in order to alleviate the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis on the Yemeni people.
 
With the spread of pandemics in current times, the Yemeni people need more than ever before to an improved health system, in order to have a decent life, the paper said, pointing out that the agreement will play an important role in supporting the third goal of the sustainable development goals related to health, by assisting the Yemeni people and enhancing health services for them, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund. This is in line with the vision of the Fund, which aims to give hope and promote peace and justice through sustainable and inclusive development, the newspaper noted.
 
Qatar Fund for Development works to spread a smile and a spirit of optimism among afflicted communities that face exceptional circumstances, in line with the funds vision that aims to give hope and promote peace and justice through sustainable and comprehensive development, Al-Raya added.
 
The newspaper concluded by saying that Qatar responds to the call of the brothers and helps them, out of its responsibility towards them under all circumstances, indicating that the Yemeni people need serious efforts from everyone in order to provide humanitarian aid, especially the health sector to confront the deadly diseases and pandemic that threaten Yemenis.
