The Government of Qatar decided to suspend public and private schools and universities for all students in the State of Qatar starting Tuesday 10 March until further notice, as part of efforts and measures the country is taking to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and to ensure the safety of students in all government and private educational institutions.

All public school students have been studying remotely since Sunday 22 March. Students from grade 1-11 will be subject to a continuous evaluation system.

Twelfth-grade students undertook high school exams at suitable locations. Students of private schools and universities will continue studying remotely, according to their academic calendar and approved evaluation systems.

When will educational facilities be opened again?

Schools and universities are closed until further notice.

What additional action can we take to protect our children?

Apply the preventative measures recommended by the Ministry of Public Health to protect against infection and to limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Visit their website and social accounts to receive the latest updates.

 

 

 

What advice do you have for students studying abroad?

We advise students abroad to adhere to the policies in place in the country of residence. Local embassies will be ready to provide any of the necessary services, including facilitating procedures for return to the State of Qatar for Qatari citizens, if the need arises.

What initiatives has the State of Qatar taken to promote remote learning?

Qatar Media Corporation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, established two TV stations with the aim of providing a smooth and easy transition to distance learning. Called ‘Education 1’ and ‘Educational 2’, the channels will support the efforts of the Ministry to complete the academic year for students and parents.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has also created a new educational channel on YouTube titled ‘Qatar’s distance learning‘ for students grades 1-12, to ready them, their parents and teachers for the remote-learning system.

Will schools reconvene in the fall?

Yes, as a part of Phase 3 of lifting restrictions, the new academic year will commence in September.
