Annular Solar Eclipse 2021: Special ‘Ring Of Fire’ Eclipse Wows Stargazers Mesmerized!
The world recently witnessed a special celestial phenomenon - the annular solar eclipse on Thursday on June 10. The 2021 solar eclipse started at 1:42 PM (IST) and was visible until 6:41 PM (IST), according to timeanddate.com.

While the eclipse wasn’t visible in India, some parts including extreme areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh could witness the rare ‘Ring of Fire’ solar eclipse. The annular solar eclipse was also visible in other regions across the globe including parts of Canada, Greenland, and Russia. Regions like Europe, North America, Asia, Arctic and Atlantic regions witnessed a partial solar eclipse.

For the uninitiated, NASA defines solar eclipse as a phenomenon that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth. The solar eclipse that the world witnessed on June 10 was an “annular eclipse” which occurs when the Moon is farthest from Earth.

According to NASA, the moon seems smaller because of the distance and does not block the entire view of the Sun. The Moon in front of the Sun looks like a dark disk on top of a larger Sun-colored disk and creates a ring around the Moon.
