Ministry allocates places to sell fish, after suspension of auction

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the Fish Affairs Department has decided to allocate the fish markets in each of the ports of Al Wakra, Al Khor and Al Ruwais to sell fish directly to wholesalers. 

The Ministry also allowed the sale of fish directly to those fish shops in contractor (with fishermen), said the Ministry in a statement 

The decision came after the announcement of suspension of the auction in Umm Salal Fish Market as a precaution by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The fish will be sold as per certain rules and regulations, as the sale of fish to be in kilograms, and the need for fish to be examined by the veterinarian doctors at the port before it is offered for sale. 

The owner of fishing boats which were allowed to sell fish, should provide weighing scale meeting the health specifications and it should be rustproof. The fish should be displayed and stored in plastic refrigerators.
