India has entered day six of the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown imposed by the Centre to curb the spread of coronavirus. In yet another highest one-day spike, the country recorded 6,654 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday. The total number of coronavirus cases in India have now crossed the 1.25 lakh-mark.

Even as medical journal The Lancet published a paper on Friday saying there were no confirmed benefits of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) being given to Covid-19 patients, the Union health ministry issued an advisory expanding the pool of people to be given the medicine as a prophylactic to prevent them from contracting the infection.

Globally, Spain which was one of the worst-affected nations further eased its lockdown restrictions and allowed outdoor dining and gatherings of up to 10 people. Whereas, death toll in United Kingdom is nearing the 37,000-mark. Brazil has overtaken Russia as the second most infected nation with the total number of cases at 330,890.
