People coming to Bahrain will need to undergo COVID-19 tests three times in span of 10 days

People arriving in Bahrain from outside will now need to undergo coronavirus tests three times over a period of 10 days.

In addition to the initial test that people take on arrival, the new measure, which will come into force on Monday (Feb. 22), will mean they will have to undergo an additional test after five days.

The move is part of the additional coronavirus preventive measures taken by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to the new measure, travelers spending more than ten days in Bahrain are obliged to take a third mandatory COVID-19 PCR test on the 10th day of stay. Appointments for the COVID-19 PCR tests to be taken on the 5th and 10th day should be booked using the “BeAware Bahrain” app.

Travelers are required to shoulder the cost of mandatory COVID-19 testing, which has been reduced to 36 Bahraini dinars (SR360 approximately), and are required to self-isolate until a negative test result is issued following the on-arrival testing. Those who test positive will be contacted by the country’s health ministry.

To ensure the safety of the community, travelers are required to sign an undertaking, indicating that they acknowledge and agree to abide by all travel-related preventative measures upheld by the Kingdom, and are encouraged to download the “BeAware Bahrain” app.
