'Better Connections' program educates 1.5 million Qatar workers on Covid-19 online

"Better Connections" program has been launched by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC).
 
The online platfrom provides important information for migrant workers in view of the recent coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. It aims to educate 1.5 workers in Qatar about Covid-19 online.
 
The program is part of nationwide efforts of Qatar to raise worker's awareness of Covid-19 in multiple languages.
 
 
How Better Connections program operates?
  • Providing a continually updated multilingual awareness webpage on worker's Hukoomi portal
  • Sending awarness-raising electronic content and multimedia materials to workers in their native languages
  • Sending over a million SMSs with awareness hyperlinks to workers
  • Providing internet connectiviy at self-isolation buildings at labor citiies
  • Do's and Don'ts posters on buildings at labor cities
  • Adding worker's native languages to GCC Hotline 16000
Here are the program's milestones since it was launched:
  • It has provided 1,692 ICT-equipped facilities
  • It has donated 19,000 computers for the program
  • It has used 5 languages for awareness via workers Hukoomi Portal
The future plans or objectives of the program are:
  • To train 50,000 workers to deliver knowledge to other workers
  • To provide 1,000 content pages on worker's Hukoomi Portal
  • To provide 400+computers at self-isolation residences at labor cities.
