MoPH: 497 new Covid-19 cases in Qatar as of March 19

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today reported that there are new 497 cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Qatar. 315 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, which brings the total number of people recovered in the country to 159,787.
Among the newly reported 497 cases, 402 are community cases and 95 are from people who travelled from abroad.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 172,697 and there are 12,639 active cases under treatment.
A 61-year-old patient succumbed to the virus taking the total death toll in Qatar due to Covid-19 to 271.
 
The overall number of vaccine doses administered since the start of the vaccination campaign is 561,044.
 
21,278 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered during the past 24 hours.
There are 184 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients in the hospital to 1042.
13 were admitted to intensive care in the last 24 hours, and 141 people continue to receive medical attention in the Intensive Care Unit.
 
6,235 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (11,170 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,654,790 tests.
 
What you can do to avoid contracting the virus
With the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Qatar, it is significant for everyone to play their role in combating the virus by adhering to the mandatory preventive methods:
- Maintaining social distancing
- Avoiding close contact with others, crowded places and confined closed spaces where other people congregate.
- Wearing a proper face mask at all times in the public
- Washing and sanitising hands frequently.
