No changes in policies for travellers coming to Qatar from UK
The re-entry conditions for travellers coming to Qatar from the UK are the same for all those coming from countries that are not on Qatar's ‘green list” of low-risk countries. UK is currently not on the green list.

Over growing global concerns of an outbreak of a more contagious coronavirus variant in Britain, the The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced yesterday that it has not changed travel policies for travellers coming to the country from the United Kingdom.

"The Ministry of Public Health is monitoring the situation closely and does not see at the present time a need to change the procedures followed regarding travellers coming from the United Kingdom," Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, the head of Infectious Diseases at the Hamad Medical Corporation, said in a press conference in Doha said yesterday.

As per Qatar's travel and return policy, travellers from countries that are not on its green list should quarantine in a hotel at their own expense for a week. They are also required to prove that they have undertaken a COVID-19 examination before travelling and the examination has to be repeated on the fifth or sixth day of quarantine after entering Qatar.

"We hope the measures we follow will reduce the chances of the (new variant of the) virus entering the country, and even if the (variant) has entered the country, it's spread will be limited. In any case, the Ministry of Public Health monitors the situation and will take the measures accordingly," Dr Khal said.

Yesterday, more than 30 nations banned travellers from the UK, suspending flights and cutting off trade routes.
