We were very excited to visit Khan Farouk Egyptian restaurant, as we'd heard great things. And we were definitely not disappointed. For a start the place was buzzing- we'd gone without a reservation and they were only just able to squeeze us in. A good sign considering its been open since July 2010. Although it's brand new, it doesn't feel that way- it's got a unique feel to. Sitting there eating pigeon, smoking a shisha you are transported to the street of Cairo, Egypt. The foods of a good quality, and there are an interesting range of traditional Egyptian dishes on the menu. A main will set you back around 50QR, but beware shisha is 45QR- one of the most expensive in the city. But the thing we loved the most? It was alive! A quality so many places are missing in Doha. Great atmosphere & live music- a perfect combination in our book! Other restaurants and cafes in Doha would do well to learn from the Egyptian at Khan Farouk!
