A concept brought to The Pearl-Qatar all the way from New York City, Megu is definitely a welcome addition to the dining scene in Doha. It's Japanese food, but probably not as you've ever experienced it before. The menu's innovative and as well as the expected sushi and sashimi, they offer a delectable range of signature dishes; crispy asparagus ‘Asparagus battered in “Okaki” rice cracker and ground wagyu kobe beef balls, with foie gras coated in the same delicious rice cracker. But it's the way that the food is presented that makes this place really special though- our sushi was presented in a real ice igloo, with a glowing blue light tantalizingly shining from within.

The restaurant interiors are chic, innovative, yet sophisticated and offers a relaxed ambiance. The interiors were actually designed by Yasumichi Morita, a world famous designer, who designed the famous W Hong Kong and although we can be sure his services didn’t come cheap the end result was defiantly worth every penny! The service is very friendly, although there is definite room for improvement; we did see some signs of clumsy waiters dropping glasses and dripping sauces over our table as we were served. Not a cheap evening; expect to pay well upwards of 300 QR PP- but defiantly worth visit if you love Japanese cuisine or not.
