Chinese, Japanese and Thai Fusion cuisine. Not the easiest of restaurants in the Souq to locate and for those visiting Doha on vacation it would be easy to walk straight past the place. This isn’t the case for those living here in Doha - the restaurant in the evenings finds itself most popular. Situated away from the main market street, the restaurant consists of both and indoor and outdoor area. Whilst we found the indoor dark and lifeless, the outside area, albeit hot in the summer months was fantastic. With wicker tables and chairs, a large TV projector showing Arabic films (occasionally a football match) and the smell of shisha pipes, it’s a great place to spend an evening. We didn't have hight hopes when visiting SOY for the first time– hosting a ‘Asian Fusion’ menu is something that is very hard to get right– but to our surprise and joy, we we’re very impressed! and The food is tasty and sumptuous - with perfectly prepared sushi awash with an abundance of quality ingredients - it’s very hard to find fault with such a place. On weekends the restaurant, especially the outdoor area is buzzing and you’d be advised to get there early or instead book a table. The prices aren’t cheap but you get what you paid for. So if you’re in the mood for some Japanese / Thai / Chinese food but in an Arabic environment, then Soy is most definitely your place! A very well deserved 8 out of 10.
